Weapon And Armor Traits

Weapons and Armor in Elder Scrolls Online can come with a number of Traits. Traits can be applied to an item when you first craft that item but they cannot be applied once an item has already been made. You also can’t apply a Trait to an item which was not crafted.

Traits provide small bonuses to specific areas like Spell and Weapon Critical, Armor, Spell Resistance and more.

To craft a Trait into an item you will need a certain Trait Stone which corresponds to the Trait that you want the item to have. You can get these Trait Stones by deconstructing equipment with the Trait that you require or you can purchased them from other players or through a Guild Trader.

There are different Traits for Weapons and Armor.

Note: As a piece of gear is upgraded the effect of the Trait will increase.

Howdy. I have a question regarding the divine trait. I was recently told that having the divine trait on each piece of armor would be wasting the bonus. The reason is that the divine trait bonus maxes out at about five percent and any divine trait after will not count towards the overall bonus. I was told it only one piece of armor with the divine trait will net you the max bonus regardless if you have it on all seven pieces. I currently have all seven pieces divine using the warrior mundus. Is this true? Thank you for your time and support.

My experience is different than Endre’s, using Epic Julianos, 5 piece set each offering 6.5 Mundus stone effect, Epic Pauldron of Fury, it too offers 6.5 Mundus stone, Epic Hircine’s Belt, 6.5 Mundus Stone, and finally Epic Lightning Staff of Transutation and it offers 6% Mundus Stone.. ..giving me a total of 69.7% Spell Critical

CORRECTION: Misstated the Lightning Staff of Transutation bonus, it’s not a Mundus effect, it adds 6% spell critical.
