Gear and Item Set Info
Of course, the staple weapon for tanks is the Sword and Board, due to the invaluable Pierce Armor skill, but your DPS set may want to include dual wielding or two handed instead of destruction staff. Just switch out Elemental ring for the weapon skill that suits you best. But if you do go destruction, make sure to make it an inferno staff, as your engulfing flames adds valuable flame damage. As for the armor, 7/7 heavy may be questionable, even for a tank. Personally, i just go all heavy for max protection, but you may feel obligated to switch some to light/heavy. Either way, make sure that you do have some heavy for standing power.
General Info
Race- I picked high elf, due to its mana based passives, but Imperial is also good for focusing on tank with Tough, and Red Diamond. Just pick the one you want to focus on the most. Attributes- I went for a somewhat balanced build, but was sure to focus primarily on mana. Just be sure to add a decent amount of stamina, so you can keep puncturing, and keep blocking. Skill bar 1: DPS Engulfing Flames- A DK staple, use this when initiating combat for some decent DPS and a boost to your fire-based attacks. Unstable Flame- Use this when your mana runs low. Combine this with Engulfing Flames for some good DPS. Elemental Ring- You can't go wrong with a good 360 degree shockwave. Because many of your DPS skills are single target, use this when surrounded. Molten Whip- Obviously, the primary focus of this skill is it's passive. But you can also use this to assist allies while playing DPS. Burning Talons- while this could be used for retreating from melee attacks, it's also useful for setting up your ultimate. Use this and follow up with your ultimate when it's ready. Standard of Might- Use this after Burning Talons. Since your enemies are rooted, there's no use for Shifting Standard. Standard of Might also increases damage dealt, and reduces damage taken, suiting both your tank and DPS role. Skill Set 2: Tank Pierce Armor- How did you NOT expect this? the taunt and armor reduction are invaluable traits to any tank. Use this to distract enemies from your healer and DPS. Extended Chains- Another popular choice, and it's easy to see why. Pulling away threatening enemies from your fragile allies. Using Pierce Armor afterwards is a smart move. Green Dragon Blood- Self heals are a positive when it comes to tanking, and Dragon Blood is a decent one, to say the least. Green Dragon Blood is a wise decision, as your lack of stamina investment calls for some stamina heals. Igneous Shield- Most of your abilities so far have been self serving, so why not give one to the team? Igneous Shield is a basic, yet effective damage shield. The morph is especially effective for your healer, which in turn makes it effective for everyone. Volatile Armor- Now you may be asking; "Why not Hardened Armor? The more shield, the merrier after all." Well, after some experience with Hardened Armor, i find it next to useless. The shield only lasts 2.5 seconds, making it very hard to ward off a powerful attack, and it sucks up too much mana to even care. Volatile Armor may be more DPS focused, but its WAY better than Hardened Armor. Use this a few moments before entering combat, so your mana can regenerate a bit before you begin. Magma Shell- i consider this ultimate to be the most powerful tank skill in the game. Not only is your damage capped to 3% of your health, but your allies can gain a powerful synergy, which effectively doubles their health! This is especially effective when at low health, so you have plenty of time to pull off a Green Dragon Blood, or wait for your healer to do his work.
Champion Point Tips
Of course, you need to implement your CP's into tanking, and dealing damage. Some good choices could be: -Heavy Armor Focus (The Lord) -Quick Recovery (The Lord) -Hardy (The Lady) -Block Expertise (The Steed) -Thaumaturge (The Ritual) -Elemental Expert (The Apprentice) -Staff Expert (The Atronach) -Magician (The Tower) -Warlord (The Tower) -Bashing Focus (the Tower) Now, of course you don't need to fully invest in all of these (like you can). Heck, you don't need to invest in these at all. These are just some suggestions you can take to effect. It's all up to you!
Thank you for this build it helped me and my allies a lot in PVE/PVP. Good job I hope you have more builds out their for Dragonknights I am certainly interested.
Hey can you put a screen shot of you character page I’m just curious what your stats look like as far as everything goes
hello!
is this build still worthwhile in 2018?
Is this build still viable in 2020 or is there another tank/dps hybrid build?
