What Are Soft Caps

Soft Caps was a system designed to force diminishing returns to a particular stat of your character. Soft Caps are no longer present in Elder Scrolls Online so you don’t have to worry about them any more.

In ESO prior to the 1.6 patch Soft Caps – also called overcharging – would reduce the gains to a particular stat if that stat got too high. This was a method aimed at reducing the power level of players and making sure that players could not be “over powered” in one particular stat.

After Update 6 the Soft Cap system was removed as part of the balancing of ESO with the introduction of the Champion System.
