RECOMMENDED:

More Resources and Health: 5/1/1 Armor Setup: 1 Heavy, 1 Medium, 5 Light

Helmet can be Heavy or Medium, and Shoulders aswell, aslong as you have 1 Heavy, 1 Medium, 5 Light. You will have more health, magicka and slightly more damage resistances.

ALTERNATIVE:

More Sustain: 7/0/0 Armor Setup: 0 Heavy, 0 Medium, 7 Light

All armor light for increased effects in light armor passives, granting slightly more magicka recovery and spell cost reduction. You will have slightly less health, magicka and lower damage resistances.

Bar 2: Inferno Staff Maelstrom/Moondancer/Infallible Aether Infused Base/Absorb Magicka/Spell Damage

Don't have weapons in suggested traits?

No problem, most of the traits are now more in-line with each other. The difference between them in terms of DPS is small and it's all situational. However just keep in mind, I recommend reaching around/over 50 - 60% spell critical without any mundus stone's.  Also what come's to amount of penetration, Id recommend reaching around 10000 - 11000 so keep that in mind when deciding what traits/mundus stone you're gonna be using.

Don't have some of the recommended armor pieces?

You can switch around the gear depending on what you have or can access. If you're newer to the game, I recommend using Seducer set as a replacement to Julianos, which is easily craftable and requires only 3 traits. If you have some other sets (for ex. Scathing MageBurning SpellweaveWar Maiden) you can still use those and achieve great DPS, don't worry about it unless you really need to do the maximum damage possible. However Julianos is what you should be aiming for, as its fairly easy to get (requires 6 traits to craft or you can get someone else to craft it for you/buy it from any guildstore).

Don't have trial Jewelry yet? You can use something like Willpower or any other Jewelry you like. Anyways blue trial jewelry (Moondancer/Infallible Aether) is very easy to obtain.

As for Monster Set's, you can use or not use them at all. Grothdarr and Ilambris achieve the best damage, but in some situations using set pieces like Ice Heart and Slimecraw can actually be better, it depends on whichever you like the most.

Item Info:

Grothdarr

Ice Heart

Slimecraw

Julianos

Moondancer

Infallible Aether

Attributes: 64 Magicka, 0 Health, 0 Stamina

Other Stats: Spell Damage: 1900 - 3200. Spell Critical: 50 - 65%, Magicka Recovery: 700 - 1100

Mundus Stone: Apprentice/Lover/Thief

Food: Max Health & Magicka Food: SOLITUDE SALMON-MILLET SOUP

Potions: Essence Of Magicka, Spell Power Potions

___________________________________________________________________________________

More magicka sustain set-up: If you're having issues with running out of magicka too quickly, or just for some reason like this setup more, use this. Take note that you're gonna gonna have rougly 4000 - 6000 less magicka, but way more magicka recovery. We need around 10 - 12 attribute points in health to reach 17000 health.

Attributes: 52 Magicka, 12 Health, 0 Stamina

Other Stats: Spell Damage: 1900 - 3200. Spell Critical: 50% - 65%, Magicka Recovery: 1000 - 1400

Food: Max Health & Magicka & Recovery Food: WITCHMOTHER'S POTENT BREW

Potions: Essence Of Magicka, Spell Power Potions

Passives Abilities:

Racial: All Passives

Class: All Passives from: Aedric Sprear, Dawns Wrath, Restoring Light

Destruction Staff: All Passives

Light Armor: All Passives

Heavy Armor: Juggernaut

Mages Guild: All Passives

Fighters Guild: All Passives

Undaunted: All Passives

Vampirism: Supernatural Recovery, Undeath

Alchemy: Medicinal Use

CombatIn combat we're always fighting in melee range because of our spammable and monster set being melee ranged. Only buff we got is Channeled Focus which we'll want to keep up as much as possible since its our only tool for sustain. In long sustained fights, you should throw a heavy attack or two in your rotation to keep your resources up. The cons of this class is magicka sustain, which is low compared to other magicka classes.

Rotation: Apply Buffs & Shields: Harness Magicka and Channeled Focus before entering combat. Light attack between EVERY ability you cast to maximize DPS.

Light Attack, Elemental Blockade, Light Attack, Vampires Bane, Light Attack, Blazing Spear, Bar Swap, Light Attack, Purifying Light, Heavy Attack, Puncturing Sweeps, Light Attack, Bar Swap And Repeat.

If you're new to the game or Templar class in general, I suggest you to read carefully what the different abilities do, how much they cost, whats their duration, cast time etc. so you understand how you should rotate your abilities and how they work.

Champion Point Tips

THIS BUILD IS NOT UP TO DATE, UPDATED BUILDS CAN BE FOUND AT: www.shredgaming.com/

About CP Points:

Depending on how much penetration you have available (If using sharpened weapons, lover mundus, light armor passive etc) you have to calculate how many points you need in to Spell Erosion. Take note, if you play in group, you may have many other debuffs applied to the enemy such as Major Breach (+5280 Penetration for everyone), Crusher Enchant applied by tanks etc, so leave room for atleast 7000 penetration, which will put you around 10000 - 11000 penetration. If you have to add more points to Spell Erosion, take them from the stat you think you need the less. If you have to take points from Spell Erosion, slot them in to Thaumaturge.

This is only an example of how you should approach the point allocation.

Total Points: 660 CP

The Lord:

The Lady: 49 Hardy, 49 Elemental Defender, 48 Thick Skinned

The Steed: 48 Ironclad 24 Spell Shield

The Ritual: 56 Thaumaturge

The Atronach: 20 Master At Arms

The Apprentice: 56 Elemental Expert, 48 Elfborn, 40 Spell Erosion

The Shadow:

The Lower: 100 Arcanist 76 Tenacity

The Tower: 44 Warlord

300 CP Template:

I have been hesitant to play a Templar but this build looks like the build I’ve been waiting on! Starting a templar with this build immediately! Hey WornLocc, got a magika dragon knight build laying around anywhere? wanta share it?

Thanks, nice to hear you like it.

I have a magicka dk but I dont think I’ll be releasing the build here, atleast not anytime soon since all magdk builds are pretty much the same. If you want a good mag dk build, maybe check out AlcastHQ or Tamriel Foundry.

I wanna use another race for this build, what are some good races for this build? And if i should use another race what racial passive do I need to use then?

You can use whatever race you want but the races I listed above works the best with this one. Always pick all racial passives no matter what race you use.

Hi! I am kind of a noob, but I have been trying out this build while leveling in Morrowind recent week. Been fun and I love the idea! It has been two years since I last played ESO, and then it was a sorcerer, so this melee magicka class is really fun playing.

Would you recommend going for vampirisim for this build? Or is is just a nice to have?

Any other tips on what leveling gear to lookout for? I got myself a crappy war-maiden set from morrowind, working alright for leveling, but I am not sure it is really all that good.

Would this also function in PVP at all? I do not plan on PVP currently, but might be fun just to test it 🙂

Finally, any recommendation for a ult until I get destro staff 50, or mage guild high enough?

Yes vampirism works excellent on basicly every build since the 10% recovery bonuses apply to both stamina and magicka, so go ahead and be a vampire!

As for the lvling gear, well anything goes really. For the most optimal set up id say craft a seducer set with training traits and use it till you achieve CP160. After that you can just make yourself a set of Julianos with divines trait and you should be set.

PvP wise, cant say anything since I dont PvP but youd need a gear change, also different abilities and everything so maybe look up some templar PvP builds and find the best one there!

Sorry for the double response, but about the ultimates, you can use the class skill ultimates, make sure you pick the morphs that do magic damage, not physical.

Solar prison for example is a great ultimate, especially on dungeons and when theres alot of incoming damage!

Thanks, I appreciate the quick response 🙂 I will try and get a vampire bite 😀

Good tip on the seducer set, will set that as my starting goal.

I’m new to ESO and have decided to jump in with this build. What would you do in terms of crafting?

Okay so as first I give you some gameplay tips non related to this build:
Start training your mount on stables daily, any gear you get from quests, please check on your crafting stations if you can research the trait, always deconstruct any item you don’t need to lvl up your crafting skills. If you want to be able to craft good armor for you as soon as possible, research Divines, Infused and Impenetrable traits first, since they’re the most used in Damage Dealer’s gears.

You want to start playing this character with a set of seducer armor, when you’re CP160 of course, before that just use any armor you might get as loot or quest rewards, don’t worry about it too much, just lvl up all your armor skills. When you feel like you’re getting better at the game and start feeling like doing more harder content (veteran dungeons, normal trials for example) you can craft yourself a set of Julianos, which will be your main gear through the game as for now. Wish you good luck with the game and nice that you chose a build of mine for your gameplay! 🙂

I fucking hate this script font? Is that your choice? I love your builds, and by extension you, but I literally cannot read this shit. It hurts my eyes, man. I am asking you to please change it to something more eye friendly. Pretty please. Thanks.

It seems that the font I use for the text looks different on different devices, on mobile its non readable, for PC using Chrome it looks as it should, but any other browser messes it up it seems so yes I change it asap, thanks for the heads up!

I really like the looks of this build and what caught my eye the most is you don’t have to PvP to get the caltrops skill. PvP and I don’t get along very well 😉 Anyway, I checked out Shredgaming and didn’t see an update for this build. Has it been posted there and I just missed it, or is it just not done yet? Is this build as it is listed here still viable for Clockwork?
